Lattice Cowl with Ribbon
Not ready to let go of fall/winter crocheted projects just yet, here is another original grannysquaredontcare design. It is a suitable project for beginner crocheters that produces an elegant and versatile piece. The pattern is available for free download here. Step-by-step Instructions to create the cowl and the longer circle scarf are included, accompanied by photos. It’s an easy pattern to follow and is a project that works up quickly.
You can try out an endless number of colour combinations, mixing up the colour of the yarn and the ribbon. Try a bolder look with a darker yarn and white ribbon, or a softer look with similarly coloured yarn and ribbon. You can even change up the look of your crocheted cowl or scarf by switching out the ribbon at any time, and trying out a shorter or longer bow, depending on your desired look.
I’d recommend trying out this pattern with Loops and Threads’ Select Wool super bulky yarn. It’s a soft, acrylic and wool blend, with a nice sheen to it that works well with the soft look of the ribbon. I found this at Michael’s and it only takes one 124 yard ball for the cowl, and double the amount for a longer circle scarf that wraps twice.
A great gift idea!
